Break Our Hearts

Show me how to love like you, have loved me
Break my heart for what breaks yours
Everything I am for Your kingdom's cause

This has been our prayer; our song as we have prepared for this trip

YET

when it actually happens...

tears stream...

you are

NEVER.

THE.

SAME.

Today was an unexpected hard day.  We were planning to run the VBS camp for the children today so we gathered our materials and showed up.  We had told the children the day before, that we would be taking pictures of each of them so come looking their best.  Hair slicked, pretties on, smiles big and nerves showing; roll was called and 48 pictures taken.  (Our desire is to make some special gift for each of these children with their picture and name.  If you can help, let us know!)

Look at some of these precious ones!

48 program children but 56 children were present.  PROBLEM.  We only had enough materials (miraculously because we NEVER counted or even knew what we were getting ourselves into upon packing for Agra) for 52 children.  A tough decision was made that morning, but the children who were on the program's waiting list were asked to leave.

NO!  That's not what we intended, our presence and lack of resources were going to have an end result of watching 8 children put on their shoes and walk through the gates and be asked to leave.  Livi couldn't hold back the tears.  "Mommy, don't make them leave!"  Even Rich and Edie, who had fallen in love with this dear one, pleaded that they would sponsor him right then and there if he could just stay.

No.  The Pastors knew the culture, they knew if rules were bent the gates would be flooded with faces wanting to be added and a riot could break out.  Parents would be furious that their child was not included.

These brave, dear ones were doing all that they could to fight back the tears.  Americans were here, they saw our arms loaded with bags and bags of hidden treasures to be revealed throughout the day.  They knew we were bringing new fun and gifts galore and they were being asked to leave.  Yet, they stood there trying their best to smile and act unmoved.

I do believe God allows us to feel and see the pain so that we can be touched to move and act.  Dear friends, don't let these eight, plus the other 42 waiting children be shut out behind the gate ever again.  Won't you consider sponsoring a child?  We can attest to the life-changing miracle of hope it will bring!
