When we were telling people our plan to take our whole
family to India for two weeks to do a short term mission trip and complete our
adoption, we received many different reactions.
Most were encouraging, but many had a hint of that’s going to be quite a
challenge. One honest response was
frankly, “You’re crazy”. Since the time
we felt God was leading us to embark on this journey, He has made unbelievable
provisions to make things work out as they have. Jenn and I are planning on having a post
describing all the ways He has provided but I wanted to take a little space to
highlight one of the largest provisions God made; an amazing wife and
mother. Here are just a few of the
things she did to make things work:
· Sharing/articulating our needs with others and then
the donations just streamed in. It’s not
always easy to say help is needed, Americans like to be self-sufficient.
· Collecting and packing all those things (an
amazing feat!), especially since she didn’t even know what bags we would have
to use until Tuesday night, with a Thursday morning departure.
· Preparing snacks for young girls who may not be
ready to embrace Indian food AND there is still food to be eaten with only five
days to go.
· Planning activities for 18 hours of plane rides
and over 12 hours of drive time.
· Improvising a full day’s worth of VBS in one
night.
· Remaining calm and trusting in the Lord to
provide when there was no way we could get everything ready in time.
· Still serving other families up to the day we
were ready to leave.
There were many other things I could list and many I didn’t
even notice, so for all of this I say Thank You and Happy Mother’s Day!
Jon
