Remember this little guy that I talked about earlier this week? His story is worth hearing... The youngest of ten children, he walks with an obvious drag and has a limp arm. This sweet smile was the one that started the thanks and came up to warmly shake our hands after Monday's time together.
Every Sunday you will find him in church; ALONE. He doesn't have mom and dad waking him to get up in time, he doesn't have any one of his older nine siblings holding his hand as they walk to worship. He comes alone to worship; to a place where he is loved, accepted and treasured. To a place where his soul is fed and his heart soars.
His society will see his outward appearance and condemn him to begging and the lowest of caste. They will see what the world sees; disability, undeserving, something wrong that deserves condemnation. Many children like this, we are told, will live in a family that ignores them, withholds love from them and then banishes them to the street.
The good news is, Christ sees the heart. Christ sees and knows the beautiful creation He made for a purpose. Sarouv will, because of his sponsorship, continue to hear and learn and be nourished physically and spiritually. He will know the truth and the truth will set him free from a society of lies.
Pray now for Sarouv, that the Holy Spirit will work a powerful testimony in and through him that he will become a spiritual leader to his people. I claim that already for him, for a boy that the world wants to reject will be a catalyst for proclaiming the love of Christ to set the captive free. Isn't that how our God works? Taking the lowly and the down-trodden and sharing victory through them? I see it in his little heart already. I pray it be so Sarouv!
