VBS on Tuesday

Our family was able to serve the children last Tuesday by running a Vacation Bible School.  We started the morning with pictures of each child, sang praise songs, a short skit by Jon and the girls and did a rotation of three activities.

Opening the morning with praise songs!

ROTATION #1: Meg and Edie helped a group make crosses and bracelets!

ROTATION #2: Jon and Ella helping kids lace cards and play tic tac toe game boards.

Rotation #3: Jenn & Ava assisted kids in decorating canvas bags!

Lunch was served and enjoyed!
The fabulous cooks behind the scenes.
Serving the children!
Livi wasn't going to miss anyone!
Ava was determined to upgrade jobs today; plates didn't cut it yesterday.
She started off dishing up the sauce for the rice but when the BIG pot was available,
she was all over that!
The children enjoying a large, lunch meal.
Then we were treated to a feast of the same plus chicken and vegetables.

Our day ended with our second set of rotations.
Rotation #1: Ava, Meg & Ella showed the kids how to assemble a foam boat craft.
Even Livi knew it was time to help when her Dad was leading the flock astray!
"Dad, I got it, you can move back!"  HA!  That's what she told him.
(You can see his help has the waves first; that part is supposed to be very LAST!)

Rotation #2: Jenn helping the kids pick out stickers for their card.
Each child got to pick out 4 stickers and boy did they police that policy!

Rotation #3: Rich led a "ball in cup" game for the kids.  He received hoots and hollers
when he began moving the hoop so that each child was a winner and scored!

Our day of VBS ended with more praise songs, a group picture and
distribution of gifts to the children.
Meg handed out a lollipop to everyone.
Ava handed each girl a pair of socks.
Jenn had a shirt for each girl to take home.
Jon handed out a brand-new soccer jersey to each boy.
Ella gave each boy a pair of socks.

We were able to have some special time with Kavitha to end our day.

A new, red sparkly dress.
We received a letter from Kavitha and she told us her favorite color was yellow.
You can imagine the girls finding all their best things that were yellow to bring!
Headband, toiletries, necklace-toy, candy...

  1. Seeing the photos of the girls dishing up food makes me look so forward to dinners at our new place! What a blessing to get to spend so much time there and get to know the children while you serve. I bet it will be hard to leave (except for the heat and tummy trouble, of course!).
